Halloween '08

Wednesday, November 5, 2008

Halloween came and went without so much as a hitch. Yup, the day (or night) wasn't as eventful as I thought it would be. I guess I was expecting too much of our trip than what I originally expected to have. Well, no matter, what is done is done.

I did enjoy Trick or Treating with my Michelle's kids but unfortunately, we weren't able to enter the Haunted House that was open for the public. Don't look at me like that! I'm not a scaredy cat (overmuch) but her kids didn't want to go, so we had to go around the block and help them gather yummy candies. Suffice as to say that I sneaked two bars of mini Snickers, yum!

When we were done taking the kids Trick or Treating, we took them home and it was time for the "big kids'" night out. Unfortunately (which made the rest of the night useless), someone told us that there would be a parade in Hollywood when there wasn't! I guess they didn't check the schedule and relied on the "word of mouth." As it turned out, the parade was in West Hollywood and NOT in Hollywood and Highland.

Well, We did see a few a lot of really interesting costumes but we really didn't enjoy it much. Not to mention being stuck in traffic for almost an hour! Please!

I did stumble upon a really wonderful find! I saw a house that really looked haunted! No, it's not really haunted but it did look like it and I thought the photo turned out really great!

Haunted

So? How did your Halloween go? Oh, and in case you're wondering, I dressed up as a sexy pirate! :)

Pumped Up for Halloween!

Monday, October 27, 2008

For the past two weeks I have been all a dither about Halloween. As much as I’d like to remain cool, calm, and collected; I can’t seem to bottle up my excitement. I know it sounds silly but this Halloween would be my first time to go Trick or Treating in a costume! Back in the Philippines, there has been no opportunity for me to dress up.

Oh there had been times where we planned to have a Halloween party but the plan never took flight. As much as we wanted it to, people seemed to be really busy at that time of the year. I guess, that could be because we Filipinos celebrate All Saints Day instead of All Hallows Eve.

Considering that this is my first, and I hope that it won’t be the last, time that I will wear a costume; I bought one! I had to do my research on where to get Holiday Costumes beforehand and started to think about what I would go as. Oh, I won’t be telling you what I actually bought but suffice is to say that I didn’t get something scary! I know the “non-scary” costumes are quite in these days.

Of the different Halloween Costume Stores that I Googled online, we found one store that sells costumes 365 days a year! I was in sixes and sevens when I saw the aisles of Halloween Costumes, which seemed to go on endlessly. Naturally, finding the right costume for me took quite sometime and I finally settled for something nontraditional.

So, what are you planning to be this Halloween?

Masquerades and Nightmares

Thursday, September 18, 2008

I’ve always wanted to dress up for Halloween. Unfortunately, all my dreams have been dashed one way or another by some teacher who didn’t allow us students to come in our full Halloween regalia.

No matter, I was still daydreaming (?) about getting my Goth costume. No, don’t get me wrong, I’m not Goth, but I do love how they dress up; it’s like my secret desire, if you will.

My first experience of Halloween here in the US was not as good as it should have been. A friend insisted on going to Hollywood & Vine to check out some Halloween action when in fact, the real action was held at a different location. Anyway, we will try and go there this year and I won’t forget to snap photos of it!

Halloween is not a “bright” costume party so getting a “happy” costume is not what I have in mind. I always go for the seductive and dark costumes if I can get away with it! I hope this year I can grab me some and dress up for the occasion!

Getting into the Halloween festivities whether in school, work or at home is fun! Lots of candies, bobbing for apples, blood red punch, that sort of thing, will be what you are going to look out for. Plus, this is a good bonding time for you, your officemates, or your friends!

This time, I will be darkening the doors of halloween costume stores in our area. Yes, I am not taking this thing mildly. If I have to dress up like a Goth Vamp and be with my Edward (I’m still thinking of Twilight!) for this Halloween then that’s what I’ll do. Happy haunting!
