Scenic Sunday: Revisiting the Japanese Garden

Last September, When I got my new SLR camera, I tried it out at the Japanese Garden in Van Nuys, California. Now that I have Ashton, I decided to revisit the place and try him out there (I'm getting very superstitious).

I can't believe how terribly complicated Ashton is! There were new knobs and selections and various selections that I haven't even began exploring yet. However, I tried my luck (without reading the manual) and clicked away. I still have a lot to learn (two times) but I guess that is to be expected since Ashton and I haven't really bonded yet. So far, I am satisfied with the results.

Scenic Sunday: Best of Both Worlds

No, I'm not referring to Hannah Montana but Beverly Hills! Who would have thought that within the Hills' urban jungle is one of their best kept secrets: the Greystone Mansion and Park.

Another tip, this Mansion has appeared in a few popular films, Ghostbusters (1984), Spiderman III (2007), Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties (2006), Charlie's Angles Full Throttle (2002), Spiderman (2001), America's Sweethearts (2001), X-Men (2000), Mercury Rising (1998), Air Force One (1997), to name a few.

Scenic Sunday: Helios

For centuries, many people have been fascinated by the sun to the point where they worshiped it. In Greek Mythology, the sun is personified as Helios and sometimes, Apollo, the god of the sun. They said Helios was always imagined to be riding his chariot of the sun across the sky each day to signify the rise and setting of the sun.

Not only is sun worship mentioned in Greek Mythology but we can constantly see them all throughout ancient civilizations, the Mayans, the Aztecs, and the Egyptians. Up till now, the sun is still viewed as a source of life since all living things depend on the sun to grow.

I'm rambling again...hehehe but I still find ancient civilizations fascinating, but that is another story. You might be wondering why I'm gabbing about the sun and Helios, yes? Well, I am going to show you a few sunset photos that I took at the Santa Monica Pier last Thursday. I was experimenting with my camera's white-balance and had really interesting shots. Hope you like them!

The sunset is amazing, isn't it? I enjoyed it immensely.

Camera-Critters: The Turtle and the Swan

Good Morning Camera-Critters! These are the recent critter shots that I took when we went to the Lake Shrine [more photos] in Pacific Palisades, California.

I will be leaving in a few minutes for Balboa Park Lake Balboa [I didn't know there was a Balboa Park in San Diego and a Lake Balboa in L.A. and both are different parks!] for my photography class and I hope that I'll snag a few shots! It's overcast today and the weatherman said there will be rain but I am crossing my fingers.
