Readings: Twilight by Stephenie Meyer

Saturday, September 20, 2008

I'd like to apologize for ditching Eragon for Twilight because I was just so excited to get my hands on it and understand Edward. I wasn't disappointed.

About three things I was absolutely positive.

First, Edward was a vampire.

Second, there was a part of him - and I didn't know how dominant that part might be - that thirsted for my blood.

And third, I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him.
~Isabella Swan

If you haven't read the book yet, I advice you to skip reading so as not to spoil your fun.

Plot [Taken from Book Sleeve]

I'D NEVER GIVEN MUCH THOUGHT TO HOW I WOULD DIE - I'd had reason enough in the last few months - but even if I had, I would not have imagine it like this...Surely it was a good way to die, in the place is something else, someone I loved. Noble, even. This ought to count for something.

When Isabella Swan moves to the gloomy town of Forks and meets the mysterious, alluring Edward Cullen, her life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn. Wit his porcelain skin, golden eyes, mesmerizing voice, and supernatural gifts, Edward is both irresistible and impenetrable. Up until now, he has managed to keep his true identify hidden, but Bella is determined to uncover his dark secret.

What Bella doesn't realize is the closer she gets to him, the more she is putting herself and those around her at risk. And, it might be late to turn back...

My View
I admit that I was curious when I heard about the book Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer and because I am not one to rely on what others say, I decided to go ahead and read the book...continue reading.

Apodysophilia

Monday, September 8, 2008

Apodysophilia or exhibitionism, also known as Lady Godiva Syndrome is a psychological disorder that involves "the need and pattern of behavior involving the exposure of parts of the body to another person with a tendency toward an extravagant, usually at least partially sexually inspired behavior to attract the attention of another in an open display of bare "private parts" — i.e., parts of the human body which would otherwise be left covered under clothing in nearly all other cultural circumstances."

Most of you might have known that I have been a victim of exhibitionism. A few weeks ago while I was getting the mail, a neighbor (who lives a few doors down from us) clear his throat and when I looked over, he was in his birthday suit with his front door open. A friend of mine told me that it is normal because I am in the United States. But that is wrong. Even in this sexually free culture, showing yourself naked to other people is NOT NORMAL.

Back in school, we learned that there are different mental disorders that are sexual in nature. Most of you are probably more familiar with sadism, masochism, bestiality and others however, this form of disorder is quite common and in some cases, harmless. Take mooning and flashing, for instance, most teens love to flash or moon just for the heck of it. In most cases, it is not wrong to do so but you must not cross the line and offend other people.

Exhibitionism only becomes a threat when that person would do anything in his power to gain a persons attention that he/she thinks is entitled to but does not get in other aspects of his/her life.

We reported this incident to the apartment manager and he said that he would look into it. A few days later, we learned that other tenants have also seen him in the nude in broad daylight! Our manager saw this as a sign and informed the person responsible for this despicable act. It is indeed despicable because there are kids as young as 4 years old who live in the apartment complex and they might see him in all his naked glory.

Yesterday, his wife came in and apologized for his behavior and told us that she asked him to leave. She was appalled by what her husband did and didn't want their son exposed to such displays.

Scam Watch: Paypal Account Hacked!

Friday, August 22, 2008

After doing my usual routine, studying, calling my hubby and my morning regimen, it was late in the afternoon that I decided to check my mails and messages. I received one startling message from my friend Mitch and she asked me to read her post regarding her current dilemma: her PayPal account just got hacked! Not only that, but it seems that her EON account has also been accessed by this freak and withdrawals where already made! To top it all off, she can't access her PayPal account anymore because it was CLOSED!

This is quite an outrage! I don't know what slimeball would do such a thing. I know there are a lot of despicable people online these days and I even blogged about it when my friend Ruby also got scammed online. Read my article Get Smart or Get Scammed for more details.

I guess this means that we have to be on guard guys. Perhaps, we need to bombard questions to PayPal and ask how they are safeguarding their clients from despicable people.

Check out Mitch's blog When Silence Speaks and read her post about this dilemma!

Readings: Again the Magic

Sunday, June 15, 2008

I'm an avid Historical Romance reader and I've acquired a few Ebooks related to this genre from different romance authors.
This book is one of my favorites written by Lisa Kleypas. Again the Magic is about an earl's daughter Aline and an orphan servant John McKenna. When their budding romance is discovered by Aline's father, McKenna is banished from their estate. To protect McKenna's life, Aline lies to him making him believe that she doesn't love him and is rejecting him because of his lowly status. McKenna leaves England and becomes a real estate tycoon in Mew York City and return to Aline's life with plans of revenge. However, previous events keep secrets between Aline and McKenna and further complicates their relationship.

Here's the free Ebook in Microsoft Reader format: Again the Magic
If you don't have the Microsoft Reader you can also download it here.
