TV: What are You Watching Right Now?

Wednesday, June 18, 2008

TV shows these days are becoming crazier and crazier. From reality shows to game shows to countdowns, you name it! I have been glued to the boob tube for a week now and I have seen really strange things.

It seems that celebreality shows have been popping up here and there. There's Keeping up with the Kardashians, Denise Richards: It's Complicated, and Living Lohan to name a few. I thought they didn't want paparazzi to follow them around? Ah well, I quickly change the channel when they are on, anyway.
However, I do love watching countdowns. Not music countdowns but the other countdowns that are available on VH1 or E!. Today, I'm watching the "I Love" reruns. They are currently showing I Love the '70s on VH1. Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with the '70's since I wasn't born yet but a year ago, they showcased I Love the '80s and I love the '90s which I could relate to. You can't believe what trends that where popular in those days! From fashion, hairdo's, and even movies and music of the day. It's pretty funny since the hosts and commentators? (is that the right term?) poke fun at the '70s.
I Love the '70s is a decade nostalgia television mini-series produced by VH-1. The series is based on a BBC series of the same name. It examines the pop culture of the 1970s,using footage from the era, along with "Where Are They Now?" interviews with celebrities from the decade. Additionally, the show features comedians poking fun at the kitchiness of what was popular. The first episode of the series, I Love 1970, premiered on August 18, 2003. A sequel, I Love the '70s: Volume 2, appeared in the United States on VH-1 beginning on 10 July 2006 (Wikipedia).
Next week they are going to feature the new millennium so it's I Love New Millennium. I'm not going to miss it!

TV: Most Evil

Thursday, June 5, 2008

Unlike most people, I do love to watch anything on the Discovery Channel, the History Channel, the National Geographic Channel, and the Crime and Investigation Channel. One of my favorite shows on Discovery Channel is Most Evil. This show is about rating murderers on a scale of evil developed by Michael Stone of Columbia University. This show features profiles on various murderers, serial killers, and sociopaths. What really interested me is that in this show, Michael Stone delves into the minds of this murderers and tries to understand their psyche. Determining their motives and methods of killing is crucial because Stone puts them in a scale of evil from Category 1 to Category 22. Wikipedia has all the categories and their respective definitions.
Fortunately, I remembered that this will be on tonight at 10 PM Manila time on the Discovery Channel. Being semi-"deranged" person that I am, it is very obvious why I gravitate towards these shows.

Am I really deranged? I haven't killed anybody and I am not planning to, if that's what you mean! But it is very interesting to find out what is going on in their psyche. I have also tried my stint at a psych ward in Cebu and I found it very interesting.

Cookchuleta

Wednesday, May 21, 2008

Cookchuleta...hmmm that does have a nice ring to it! So, any guesses as to who will win the next American Idol (so we can go on and have another Am Idol try-out)? For sure, David will win! But which David?! Based on their performance last night (which wasn't really good and Simon was full of BS) Archuleta shined. He picked the right songs and I think, topping it off with Imagine was the cherry to his perfect ice cream parfait.
Cook was another story. He sang good but the song choices weren't that great (conspiracy theory?). However, Cook's cover of The World I Know by Collective Soul was pretty good but that was about it. The other songs that he sang where just good.
But what do I know?! I stopped watching the season when Ramielle got kicked out so early in the game. Unfortunately for her, she chose karaoke songs. The songs that old, drunken men sing at Karinderiya's. I don't have illusions that she would win. I mean, she is Filipina for crying out loud! They would never let a Filipina win American Idol now, would they? Even if she is an American citizen, she still looks pinay and I guess that would never do!
But don't fret Pinoys/Pinays there is still Charice Pempengco and some guy (forgot his name...so kill me!) singing the Kung Fu Panda theme song!

Avatar Mania

Sunday, April 27, 2008

I am now hooked on Avatar: The Last Airbender! Although, I have been hooked pretty much since last year and I am so excited! I am now almost done with watching all the episodes of Episode 3 and I can't wait to see the Finale! I am now watching episode 9. Thanks to Anime.org for the episodes. You can check the site for all things anime. Now I'm thinking of watching Fushigi Yugi, another anime that I was totally hooked into way back when I was in high school. I haven't seen all the episodes so I am planning to watch them...all in due time!

Ciao!

Oh, and see my new header? Pretty cool, huh? I know, it's still amateurish but it's a start!

This a disgrace! Just because we are from a third world country doesn't mean that we can't perform as well as...if not better than American doctors! True, we are not up to date with all the medical technological advancements but we are still AT PAR with them when it comes to skills and knowledge!!
The writers of this episode have a very sad view of us Filipinos...I just wonder why Hatcher or the producer never said anything about this line....it is obviously an act of racism, and an ignorant act, at that!
YABANG PINOY!!

Surprise!

SURPRISE SURPRISE!
I just finished watching High School Musical 2 and I honestly think that it's better than the last one! Actually, I didn't really like High School Musical because I felt it was lacking in some way but I think they made up for it in the sequel. :) I really like the cute sundresses! The fashion really improved and I noticed Gabriella wearing different footwear! (in the last TV movie, she wore black Mary Jane Sketchers on all the scenes! snicker but I have a pair just like hers, and that was before I even saw the TV Movie High School Musical!) hahahahah cuteeee gyud kaayo and clothes as in! mwaaaah!

It's The Oscars! What does that mean? Fashion, fashion, fashion! Well, for me that is. I mean, I have to admit that I really love watching the stars in their gowns and see who is wearing what and who is the best and worst dressed on the Red Carpet! Sure, I'm also interrested in knowing who the winners are but I'm much more excited to see the fashion.
